Biographical
Steven C. Choquette, Esq. is passionate about helping parties and their advocates resolve disputes in a fair, respectful, efficient, and economical manner. Steve's skill in dispute resolution is informed by 20 years of experience as a mediator and arbitrator, and more than 30 years as an advocate in trials, appeals, arbitrations, and mediations. The qualities and commitment he brings to alternative dispute resolution matters include: thorough, advance preparation for all cases, whether complex or small; empathic listening and guidance; a calm and reasoned demeanor and good humor; creative problem-solving; leadership of the process; and unflagging dedication to helping parties resolve disputes, including via ongoing follow-up when needed. Steve works with parties and counsel nationwide in online mediations and arbitrations. He also regularly conducts in-person and hybrid mediations and arbitations across Colorado and nationally. He is happy to come to you if that is more convenient than meeting at JAMS' Denver office.
Steve joined JAMS after spending the first two decades of his legal career as a commercial, insurance, and tort trial and appellate lawyer with Holland & Hart LLP. He then co-founded and managed two law firms—Choquette & Simons LLP and Choquette & Hart LLP—where he continued such work for twelve more years, and also served as an expert witness in attorney malpractice and attorney fee dispute matters. He took ADR training in the early 2000s. His service as mediator and arbitrator became an ever-increasing part of his work until he transitioned to full-time mediation and arbitration work with JAMS Denver in early 2019. He has successfully mediated hundreds of cases and arbitrated dozens of cases.
