Biographical
Mr. Myers practiced law from 1979 to 2013 and has licenses to practice in Colorado and Texas. During this time he represented both plaintiffs and defendants and practiced primarily in the areas of personal injury litigation, insurance bad faith, insurance coverage, construction, contracts and toxic tort. He has appeared in County, State and Federal courts. His legal experience includes trial work, appellate work and administrative agency appearances. Additionally, Mr. Myers owned and operated a real estate rehab company, managed a Denver-based rock band and owned and operated his own record label. His family background includes his Grandfather being a Master Carpenter/General Contractor and his dad working in the construction business until joining the FBI (and thereafter being essentially a professional DIYer – this in the days before YouTube).
Currently, Mr. Myers works as a mediator, arbitrator and insurance appraisal umpire. An increasing focus of his business is umpiring. As an umpire he is certified by both WIND Network and IAUA (Insurance Appraisers and Umpires Association). He has been appointed as an umpire by various Courts (Federal and State) and jointly selected by appraisers. When asked whether he travels and whether he actually gets on roofs – the answer to both is an emphatic yes! Mr. Myers splits his time between homes in Colorado and Florida. These homes in addition to his Texas law license allow him to be available throughout these states specifically, the country in general as well as being available internationally.
ADR Experience
While practicing law Mr. Myers personally participated as an attorney in mediations and arbitrations. Since starting at JAMS in January 2013 he has participated full time as a mediator, arbitrator and appraisal umpire.
